James Maddison looking forward to break Ruud van Nistelrooy long holding goalscoring record

When Leicester City faces Brentford on Saturday, James Maddison will try to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s goalscoring record.

Following a poor run of form, Brendan Rodgers’ side will travel to the Brentford Community Stadium in desperate need of a win.

Leicester lost 3-1 at home to Chelsea last weekend, their fifth straight loss in all competitions.

Leicester is 16th in the Premier League after four consecutive defeats, with goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three.

They will be confident of a positive result against Brentford, having avoided defeat in their last seven league meetings with their opponents.

As a result, the Foxes have not lost a league game to Brentford in over 70 years, with their last defeat coming in March 1953.

Despite Leicester’s disappointing season, Maddison remains a key player for his team, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 19 league games this season.

Maddison, who has more goals and assists than any other Leicester player in the Premier League this season, will be critical to the club’s survival efforts.

The Englishman is looking forward to visiting the English capital after scoring in each of his last four Premier League away games against London clubs.

Maddison started the scoring streak in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the end of last season, and he has scored in away games against Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United this season.

The midfielder now has the opportunity to become only the second player for a non-London-based club to score in five consecutive Premier League visits to the capital.

Only Van Nistelrooy has ever done it, scoring on five consecutive trips to London for Manchester United between September 2002 and September 2003.

Jonny Evans came off the bench as a late substitute last weekend after a lengthy absence, but he has since suffered an injury setback.

Rodgers has revealed that the Northern Ireland international has taken a knock, which may prevent him from playing on Saturday.

Victor Kristiansen, Youri Tielemans, and James Justin are also unavailable for the Foxes.
