Nottingham Forest hold talks over Lewis Ferguson

Well, it would appear as though things are being cranked up over Ferguson and Forest have been linked with the player previously.

According to Calciomercato, Forest and Fulham have both held in-depth discussions with Bologna over the player – with other teams also keen.

Ferguson has played 29 times for the Serie A outfit this season and of late, he’s been named as the captain of the team.

Bologna are enjoying a fine season and currently occupy fourth place, with Ferguson starring alongside Remo Freuler.

Forest allowed the Swiss midfielder to join Bologna when they poached Nicolas Dominguez for £8.5 million from the Italian outfit.

Forest-linked Ferguson has a contract until 2027 and the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta are all eying him from Serie A.

The article claims that it will take a minimum of £18 million to prise him away from Bologna this summer.

Who is Lewis Ferguson?
He’s a midfield player who came through the youth ranks at Hamilton Academical before moving to Aberdeen in 2018.

The player made 169 appearances for the Dons before earning a shock move to Bologna in July 2022.

Now, he’s instrumental for the Serie A outfit and it’s no surprise that Ferguson has attracted interest from Forest and Fulham.

This season he’s been playing in the number 10 role, scoring six goals and registering five assists to propel Bologna into Champions League contention.

His natural position is central midfield though and that’s perhaps where Forest would be looking to play Ferguson.

Squawka shows that he makes three times as many passes as Ryan Yates and he also beats Nicolas Dominguez using that metric.

Ferguson has also played for Scotland on 10 occasions and will be eyeing a place in the Euro 2024 squad.
