German legend Oliver Kahn tip Bayern Munich to sign £100m Chelsea forward

Kai Havertz is reportedly back on Bayern Munich’s radar, with Oliver Kahn addressing transfer rumors surrounding the Chelsea forward.

When it became clear that he would be leaving Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, speculation about a move to the Allianz Arena began. Havertz chose to leave his homeland at that point, becoming a Champions League winner at Stamford Bridge, but talk of a return to the Bundesliga – which would reunite him with former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel – has resurfaced as Chelsea look for form and Bayern make plans for 2023-24.

WHAT THEY SAID: Bayern CEO Kahn is hesitant to comment on the rumors for the time being, telling Bild when asked about the links to Havertz: “It doesn’t make sense to mention it right now.” As I previously stated, our primary focus is on this season and not on future topics. We are not currently discussing new signings with Tuchel.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: While Kahn is hesitant to comment on the Havertz speculation, the man himself recently admitted that Bayern is a club that any player would find difficult to reject. “Bayern are generally a huge club that it’s difficult to say no to as a German player,” the 23-year-old told Sport Bild. However, my personal ambition has always been to play abroad at some point. In either England or Spain.

Havertz has made 129 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 32 goals, and is about to start playing under a new manager after the Blues parted ways with Graham Potter.
