Eddie Howe praises Newcastle United forward and expresses his admiration for him.

Newcastle wins 5-1, but Howe is still dissatisfied.

During a half-hour break in play, Howe had his players huddled around in the technical area, where he appeared to be giving them the hair dryer treatment. It just goes to show that even when we’re winning, Eddie isn’t happy unless everything is perfect.

That attitude is exactly what leads to a winning mindset. When you can still see areas for improvement after such a comprehensive victory. That’s why I’m rooting for Eddie Howe to bring us our first silverware in decades.

to see him capitalize on his opportunity.

Newcastle’s £20 million striker has recently been demoted to the bench, having to watch Alexander Isak take all the credit and score the goals. When the teams were announced tonight, Callum Wilson was named to the starting eleven ahead of Isak.

Wilson, on the other hand, wasted no time in staking his claim for a starting spot, scoring for the Magpies after only six minutes. After a great press by Jacob Murphy to dispossess Nayef Aguerd and then square the ball for Wilson to tap into an empty net, he added his second and Newcastle’s third just 22 seconds into the second half.

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Howe was asked if he was happy to see Wilson getting a chance in the team, to which he replied, “Very much so, but no doubt about his ability, quality, and what he brings.” Two really good goals, yeah, I’m happy for him.”

Newcastle’s forwards are both in excellent form, which gives Howe a headache when it comes to team selection, but given that we’re now two games into a three-game week, knowing that he has two excellent options helps. If his first choice is having trouble in a game, he has a great backup on the bench.

Despite winning 5-1, Eddie Howe was dissatisfied with his overall performance. “We weren’t at our best, but we were clinical today,” Howe said, his voice hoarse. We haven’t been like that in a long time, so it was great to see us score goals. The score line appeared to be comfortable, but I didn’t believe it was.
