This is the result of him not developing as quickly as the club had hoped. Rather, Cleary will play the North Queensland Cowboys in the next round when he returns.

During the 2023 Grand Final rematch earlier this season, the two-time Clive Churchill Medal winner suffered a hamstring injury against the Brisbane Broncos.

After missing the last two State of Origin games of the previous season due to a left hamstring strain, it was his second hamstring injury in as many months.

The Herald’s reports follow the star halfback’s most recent development, which occurred at the end of March.

When asked about the injury at the end of March, Cleary responded on Channel 9 with, “Yep… we play Manly this week and then we have a bye.”

It’s a tiny tear in the hammy. Clearly, it’s not the same as it was (last year). It’s very minor and probably happened before I actually tore last year. It’s also the other leg.

It’s a discussion about how to appropriately manage it with the physiotherapist. I could have played last week if it had been a grand final. It’s all about kicking and managing the workload around extras. Growing up, I never had to worry about it because I enjoyed doing it.

“I started to get a few niggles here and there last year. Now, I focus more on the mental exercises and use that to organize my week.
