Leicester City will be free to finally sign Stefano Sensi during the summer transfer window as the midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, it has been revealed.
The Foxes have finally wrapped up promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking before tonight’s clash at Deepdale against Preston North End which will be more like a party now than a must-win game.

The club’s promotion was confirmed following Leeds United‘s 4-0 defeat at Loftus Road on Friday night at the hands of Queens Park Rangers. However, the title is not confirmed just yet but beating Preston later today would crown Leicester as champions of the second tier.
Once this is out of the way, Enzo Maresca can begin preparing for the summer transfer window alongside the recruitment department as they look to strengthen the squad for a return to the promised land. One name that has been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium for a few months is Sensi.

Leicester City attempted to sign the Italian midfielder during the January market and it looked as though the Midlands club were set to agree a deal with Serie A giants Internazionale to sign the player for a fee of £2.5 million.
The agreement was that Inter would earn £500,000 up front and a further £2 million if the Foxes were promoted to the top-flight. Nevertheless, the Italian champions began moving the goalposts and a deal never came to fruition.
Now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 28-year-old will not sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri and will leave the club at the end of the season, leaving the door wide open for him to sign for Leicester.
It was very disappointing for Leicester City when the deal didn’t come off. Sensi was seemingly in the bag and would have helped ease the side’s midfield woes after Cesare Casadei was recalled from his loan spell by Chelsea. Unfortunately, Inter had other ideas.
Nonetheless, Sensi will now be a free agent over the coming weeks so the former Premier League champions can go back in for him. Furthermore, they won’t have to offer a transfer fee to anyone this time for his services either.
