Leicester City’s relegation opponents have reacted strongly to Dean Smith’s appointment.
Smith was named on Monday evening, capping off a tumultuous few days in which talks with former Leeds manager Jesse Marsch fell through. Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez was also said to be in “talks.”
Nottingham Forest are two points ahead of City in the league, thanks to Steve Cooper’s side. The Reds have been in a similar slump to Leicester, unable to win since beating Leeds in February.
@Forest_Review: Southampton and Leicester have been confirmed (R). There is one more spot left, with 8 cup finals remaining. #NFFC
@York5001:Dean Smith at Villa, 2020: two points in ten games left them four points from safety. Then 7 points from the last four games to stay in the Premier League. #NFFC
Russell Sprout: Obviously preparing for Championship football.
Jacques Prince: Just bizarre. But who knows.
Peter Moody: The football world has gone mad!
Steve Rovetto: That signals danger for Forest, as he will save them; we and West Ham are the only two teams in the bottom nine who have not changed managers. I believe we will fall, but we must stick with Cooper in order to recover stronger.
Trevor MC Tobias Cashmore: Hopefully carry on the good work that Brendan Rodgers has done.
