BREAKING NEWS: Alabama set to host Indiana transfer cornerback next week

Alabama is expected to host Indiana transfer cornerback Kobee Minor on a visit next week, a source told 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Minor (6-feet, 185 pounds) entered the transfer portal Monday after spending one season with the Hoosiers. He started eight games last season and was named an honorable mention All-Big Ten by coaches and media.

Minor was a three-star recruit in the 2020 class who played his first three seasons at Texas Tech, appearing in 23 games. He enters 2024 as a redshirt senior in his final season of college eligibility.

Alabama is looking to bolster its cornerback depth through the transfer portal, which closed for undergraduates and graduates this week. The Tide hosted Arizona State transfer Ed Woods on a visit last week, but he committed this week to Michigan State. Alabama will host Wake Forest cornerback DaShawn Jones along with Penn State safety King Mack and South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs on visits this weekend.

The Tide has three scholarship spots to fill on its roster, coach Kalen DeBoer told Indiana Sports Beat Radio earlier this week.

“We just had a couple spots that we could fill,” DeBoer said. “We know we needed to upgrade just a couple areas, roster-wise, and just build some depth on top of just also some guys that can step out on the football field and be starters for us. I think that’s continued to evolve, and we’re headed in the right direction. There was just only a couple spots that we had to work with.

“We’ve had a couple situations, you know, but I think it’s going to work out in the end to where we’re better off with what we have in the program, with the talent level. I’m excited about these guys that have made this second commitment now to stay here and build upon what we did this spring.”
