Nottingham Forest struck a deal for the 39-year-old to join the Premier League club

Nottingham Forest have agreed to terms with the 39-year-old to join the Premier League team.

Last night, it was reported that Forest had named Wilson as their top target to succeed Filippo Giraldi as sporting director.

According to the Telegraph, both teams have agreed on a transfer.

According to the story, Wilson is now anticipated to work through personal issues, with a resolution on the horizon.

So it appears that the Ibrox transfer chief is on his way to Forest, with a move to the City Ground – where he will fulfill a’senior football role’ – set to be announced soon.

Wilson joined Rangers in 2019 as its sporting director.

His record over transfers has brought about some hefty criticism from sections of the Ibrox support, with Managing Director Stewart Robertson also coming under fire.

‘Time for Change’ banners were unfurled before of a clash with Fir Park last month.

Wilson has previously worked for Watford, Huddersfield Town, and Southampton in English football.

Kris Boyd believes the relocation would be beneficial to “all parties.”

The former Ibrox striker backed up the fans’ opinion over Rangers’ recruitment policy under Wilson’s watch.

He told Sky Sports: “When that is your role at the club you’re always going to be judged on it. There’s been a lot of criticism flying about I’ve had my say on it numerous times as well.

“There’s no doubt the recruitment at Rangers over the last few years hasn’t been good enough. There’s no getting away from it and I think the fans have had enough. You’ve seen them turn on Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson.

“You don’t want to see it, but they’re the ones getting paid, and the fans are showing up and demanding better.”

“If the opportunity to play for a massive club like Nottingham Forest presents itself, you’d think it’d be too good for him to pass up.”

“A lot of good things have happened.” It hasn’t all been bad. However, once fans begin to voice their opinions at the degree they have recently, it can only end one way, which may be best for all involved.”
