£50k-a-week Everton star shown exit door just after one year deal at Goodison Park

Kevin Thelwell is set for yet another arduous summer in the transfer window, but that is par for the course when it comes to Everton.

Nothing is ever easy around Goodison Park, but both he and Sean Dyche likely knew that when they signed up.

Trying to tempt others to board what seemed like a sinking ship has proved far more difficult though, and whilst the recruitment has remained savvy, these coming months are certain to be more awkward than ever.

That is, including both incoming and outgoings, with the latter likely to be far tougher than the former to accept.

However, one particular departure that is being touted might not hurt as much as others…

Everton could lose £26m man this summer

With the club reportedly open to offers regarding three of their star men, Amadou Onana, Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, their dire financial situation is once again emphasised.

They need to find money from somewhere to avoid another campaign laden with PSR sanctions, but they also cannot afford to completely ravage the squad to the point where they are once again plagued by relegation threats.

Beto of Everton during the Premier League match between Everton FC and Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on April 21, 2024 in Liverpool, England.

So, with one report via Italian outlet InterLive.it suggesting that Beto, their £26m acquisition from just last year, is seeking to leave already, that might represent a fine opportunity to recoup some much-needed funds.

It is noted that the 26-year-old’s agent has already offered his client to both AC and Inter Milan, and whilst the latter has rejected the idea, the fact that he actively ‘wants to leave’ might force a move through anyway.

Beto has failed to make the mark under Sean Dyche

When the Portuguese marksman was brought in, there was excitement among the fanbase that they would at last have a powerful striker to lead the line with more regularity than the often-injured Calvert-Lewin.

When he was fit, the latter was expected to start, but given his record across the previous years, he could no longer be trusted.

However, inexplicably, Dyche managed to squeeze regular game time out of him. His profligacy turned out to be the newest issue, where he was even the Premier League’s worst finisher for a period, yet Beto still was stuck behind him.

The £50k-a-week former Udinese man still has just nine league starts this season, and has scored a mere three goals.

Not only has he failed to find the net as regularly as was desired, but his first touch has often been lacking. When it comes to holding up the ball and linking play, he simply cannot compete with his English counterpart.

Meanwhile, Youssef Chermiti has really excited Evertonians with his lively appearances off the bench a few times now.

Perhaps allowing Beto to leave for a significant sum and moving forward with just two strikers might mark the smartest move to retain quality whilst somewhat solving that aforementioned financial issue.
