Luton in talk for £2m right-back and hope to draw Leeds to his signature

Luton Town have moved to pip Leeds United to the signing of Japan right-back Daiki Hashioka from Belgian club Sint-Truiden.

Talks have taken place over a £2m deal with the 24-year-old keen on a move to Kenilworth Road.

Leeds made an approach to sign Hashioka but were concerned about a potential injury he sustained recently.

Although he isn’t in Japan’s Asia Cup squad, he has been capped by them in the past and featured five times for them last year.

He has been a regular for Sint-Truiden this campaign, playing 19 times, although they are only mid-table in the Belgian Pro League.
