Nottingham Forest: Jermaine Jenas names the two players Nottingham Forest simply cannot afford to sell this summer

Jermaine Jenas has named the two Nottingham Forest players who simply can’t be sold during the summer transfer window.

It’s going to be a bit of an uncertain summer for the Reds as they bid to stay within the financial fair play parameters.

Forest were deducted four points last season and it would be nice for the club to avoid another sanction during 2024/25.

It does appear as though one or two players might need to leave the club this summer.

West Ham and Tottenham have been linked with Morgan Gibbs-White, whilst Ange Postecoglou has also been linked with Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Then, there is Murillo is reportedly valued in the region of £70 million by Forest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, Jenas has picked the two players that would be seriously detrimental to the chances of Forest remaining in the Premier League if they were to leave.

Jermaine Jenas picks two players that Forest simply can’t lose

The Reds have a wealth of quality within their ranks, with Gibbs-White and Hudson-Odoi extremely important.

Last season, Gibbs-White made it to 10 Premier League assists, whilst Hudson-Odoi scored eight goals after signing for £3 million from Chelsea.

Now, Jenas believes keeping those two players around is going to be paramount if Forest are going to push on this season.

He told TalkSPORT: “Massive concerns if I’m honest with you. If someone like Gibbs-White or Hudson-Odoi has to go, they were kind of the lynchpin last season for Forest’s season and losing them would have that sort of impact that would send them down.

“It’s a very simple one with Forest they’ve got a couple of guys who are stars. After that, there are a couple of workhorses and this year they weren’t good enough even with the points deduction they should have been way safer than they were.

“They were very fortunate that the teams that came up were way off it. Yeah, big concerns at Forest. If Morgan Gibbs-White has to go or Callum (Hudson-Odoi) it would be a huge loss and I could only see relegation.”

Forest should sell Murillo instead

We’re not sure we’d go as far as Jenas and say losing Gibbs-White and Hudson-Odoi would mean relegation.

For starters, hindsight is wonderful, and Forest might lose those two but then proceed to spend money on two brilliant replacements.

However, it’s not a secret how important they are and if Forest could keep all of their attacking players it would help them become a more polished unit next season.

Murillo is another player wanted, with two Premier League clubs watching the Forest star.

Selling him would likely see Forest rake in a serious amount of profit and that would certainly aid the balance sheet in a better way.

It’s never nice to see top players leave the City Ground.

This summer, however, one is going to have to leave and Murillo leaving does perhaps make more sense than the two that Jenas mentions.
