Tottenham Hotspur hold back contract talks to sign super striker until new boss arrives

Harry Kane’s contract talks with Tottenham Hotspur are expected to continue once the North London giants have selected a new head coach.

The 29-year-old’s current contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires next summer, and there is now a lot of talk about his future with the club.

Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich are thought to be keen on signing the England captain, who has 25 goals and four assists in 42 club matches this season.

Spurs, on the other hand, appear to be determined to maintain hold of the striker, with club chairman Daniel Levy thought to be unwilling to let him transfer to a domestic competitor in a big blow to Man United.

According to 90min, Kane and Tottenham are both ready to postpone talks about a potential new contract until a new head coach is installed.

Antonio Conte departed Tottenham Hotspur at the end of March, and Cristian Stellini is currently in command of the team on an interim basis while the club searches for a new head coach.

Stellini has won one, drawn one, and lost one of his three Premier League games as manager, including Saturday’s 3-2 setback at home to Bournemouth.

The stunning defeat to the Cherries has dropped the capital club to fifth place in the rankings, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand.

Vincent Kompany, who took Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt, is reportedly being considered as Conte’s replacement.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers, and Julian Nagelsmann have all been connected with the empty position at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs would struggle to persuade Kane to sign another long-term contract if they were unable to clinch Champions League football for the 2023-24 season.

Man United are believed to be prepared to pay as much as £100m for Kane, who has recently become both Tottenham and England’s all-time leading goalscorer.

The Red Devils and Bayern Munich are regarded to be the only viable candidates for the forward’s signature in the next market, and it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga champions are willing to spend the fee required to clinch his signature.

Kane has 23 Premier League goals this season, but his goalless draw against Bournemouth on Saturday stopped a four-game scoring streak in England’s top tier.
