Premier League makes shocking announcement that will impact Tottenham in 2023/24

The Premier League has made a stunning revelation that will have an impact on Tottenham in 2023/24.

The Premier League has announced a mid-season break for the 2023/24 season to help with fixture congestion.

The current season experienced an extended hiatus that lasted through November and December of 2022. This was due to the fact that the World Cup was contested in Qatar during the winter.

As a result of the interruption, the 2022/23 season has gotten somewhat congested at times. Teams involved in European events played two to three times each week throughout the first half of the season.
As the Premier League enters its final stretch of games, some teams find themselves with games in hand that have yet to be scheduled.

Spurs are not one of those teams, and will have all eyes on the remaining eight games in the domestic campaign this year.

However, we may start thinking about next season now that facts about the league’s plans for a break in the season have emerged.

The Tottenham Hotspur website has disclosed that there would be a “pause in play” between January 13 and January 20, 2024.

There will also be a strategy in place to reduce fixture congestion throughout the holiday season, which will ensure that “no two rounds of matches across Christmas and New Year take place within 48 hours of each other.”

The 2023/24 season will have 34 weekends, three midweek game rounds, and one Bank Holiday match round.

It has also been revealed that Tottenham’s fixture list for next season will be released on 15 June 2023.

The influence of the 2022 World Cup and the break that came with it was clearly damaging to this campaign, but the preparations for this shorter break appear to be beneficial to the season next year.

Hopefully, this will supplement European fixtures (and hopefully, Spurs will have something to worry about).
