Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhate has vowed that the squad will “fight” for every point until the end of the season as the club fights relegation back to the Championship.

The loss keeps Steve Cooper’s side in the relegation zone on goal differential ahead of the weekend trip to Anfield to face Liverpool. When they face Jurgen Klopp’s side, Forest will be hoping to snap a 10-game winless streak.

Following the game versus United, in which Niakhate played the entire 90 minutes, the defender took to social media to address fans about the club’s struggle for safety this season.

“To the fans: we know we have to do better, and we will fight for every point available until the final whistle blows,” he tweeted. “It’s a big task, but we’re up for it.” I am fully certain that we will succeed together.”

Following the defeat, the 27-year-old reiterated his message in an interview with the club’s official website. The defender stated again that he is ‘convinced’ that the Reds can still win the league this season.

“We’re all working hard to win games,” he remarked. “We are not giving up, but we must do more.”

“We have to keep going because we only have seven games left, and they are all finals.”

“It’s difficult as the end of the season approaches, but I am confident that we will achieve our objectives with this squad.” We have faith in one another, and we are excited to get started on Liverpool.”
