85% AGREEMENT: Steve Cooper in talks to make £15m transfer his first signing as Leicester City manager

Leicester City are starting to turn their attention to potential summer signings, with ‘talks’ for an exciting South American talent.

It has been a turbulent off-season so far for Leicester City, with the club rocked by the departure of their promotion-winning manager Enzo Maresca at the beginning of June.

Maresca left the Foxes after a year in charge to take the Chelsea job vacated by Mauricio Pochettino, with Leicester confirming former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper as his replacement.

Add to that managerial shake-up the fact that Leicester are in danger of a PSR breach and subsequent potential points deduction, it is a difficult time at the club despite promotion.

Those financial concerns could see star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall sold this summer, but latest news suggest Leicester are looking at how they can improve the squad with a new signing.

Leicester City ‘in talks’ with Ramon Sosa

The main priority this summer has to be keeping Dewsbury-Hall; a boyhood fan who is also the club’s best player.

However, with interest in the midfielder intensifying and Maresca looking to set up a reunion at Chelsea, Leicester may be resigned to a future without the 25-year-old.

Dewsbury-Hall’s departure would be a significant blow to Cooper’s chances of keeping his new club in the Premier League, however there is still hope if any fee received is reinvested well.

Reports suggest Leicester’s search for new players has taken them to South America, with talks held to sign Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa.

That is according to journalist Alan Nixon, who confirmed via his Patreon: “Leicester City are in talks to sign Paraguayan right winger Ramon Sosa at Argentinian side Talleres.

“The Foxes have been chasing the quick and powerful wide man for weeks and met his agents recently to discuss a deal for about £15 million.

“Sosa was an unused sub in the first game in Copa America but is being pushed by all parties to move to the Premier League.

“Sosa’s club have had contact from a couple of top flight English teams and will sell their star if the price is right.”

Who is Leicester target Ramon Sosa?

Ramon Sosa of Paraguay drives the ball during an international friendly between Peru and Paraguay at Estadio Monumental on June 7, 2024 in Lima, Peru.

Sosa is an exciting – if a little risky – target for Leicester.

Cooper loves using fast, direct wide players in his teams and, in Sosa, Leicester would be signing just that.

A right-footed left winger, Sosa likes to beat his man and cut in on his stronger right foot to either get a shot away or cross for a teammate.

As Nixon mentioned, the 24-year-old is currently on international duty for Paraguay at Copa America and came off the bench in his country’s second game against Brazil in which they lost 4-1.

Sosa has 13 caps for his country but is yet to score, however he has enjoyed more success for his club Talleres in Argentina, scoring 17 goals and assisting a further 13 in 56 games.

Whilst he prefers to play on the left, Sosa can also be effective from the right and would offer a decent option alongside Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fattawu to help bring goals to the side in the Premier League.

The only concern would he how well his talents translate to the English top flight, as many South Americans have struggled when making the move.
