BREAKING NEWS: Leeds finally set £20m asking price for Marcelo Bielsa signing that Daniel Farke said is world class

Leeds United have decided to place a £20m price tag on the head of one of Daniel Farke’s key players this summer, with The 49ers seemingly open to selling anyone if the price is right.

Leeds have already sold six players permanently and waved goodbye to five more on loan, while plenty have seen their contracts expire. Archie Gray is the big-name exit, joining Tottenham for a £40m fee.

Kris Klaesson, Charlie Cresswell, Glen Kamara, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente have also been sold, while Sonny Perkins, Jack Harrison, Sam Greenwood, Rasmus Kristensen and Darko Gyabi have left on loan.

Liam Cooper, Cody Drameh, Jamie Shackleton and Ian Poveda headline the list of players that have left Elland Road at the end of their contracts. It leaves Leeds lacking in depth, with only four brought in.

Joe Rodon is a great signing, but doesn’t add anything new to last term. Alex Cairns is only a third-choice goalkeeper but the additions of Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell are expected to impact the first team.

The return of Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober feels as if they are new signings, but Leeds are still open to summer sales. Crysencio Summerville, Junior Firpo, Willy Gnonto and more are linked with transfers.

Another is Illan Meslier, with Marseille among the clubs touted with a move for Meslier so far. Leeds Live say The 49ers are open to his exit if offers of £20m are tabled for the player signed under Marcelo Bielsa.

Illan Meslier has his critics but he would be a massive loss

It is impossible to buy a goalkeeper of Meslier’s quality while in The Championship, simple as that. He has critics does the Frenchman, mostly because of his distribution which at times annoyed Rodon last season.

But Meslier is already a vastly experienced goalkeeper that has proven himself repeatedly in the Premier League. He won last season’s Championship golden glove, and Leeds should strive to keep the £5m man.

Described as “world class” by manager Farke, Meslier is arguably the best goalkeeper in English football outside of the Premier League and while a £20m fee would represent big profit, he would be a huge loss.
