BREAKING NEWS: More evidence Leeds United have had better end of £20m-plus Bournemouth agreement

The 49ers look to have steadied the ship in terms of their control on outgoings in the Championship, especially after what unfolded 12 months ago.

Loan clauses and other unsavoury exits left the club brought a furious reaction from those at Elland Road, be that staff or the fanbase

Tyler Adams suffers yet another injury with surgery needed

Tyler Adams was perhaps the transfer that left the worst taste in the mouth for Leeds, joining Bournemouth on a permanent deal for a fee in excess of £20million.

The USMNT man sparked controversy through his attempts to secure the transfer though, pursuing legal action to complete a deal to join the Cherries.

His first season was blighted by injury and subsequent surgery, having missed the start of 23/24 with hamstring trouble that cropped up in Leeds’ relegation battle.

Now, it has been confirmed that he is due to miss the start of this season too with another injury setback, this time needing surgery on a back injury.

He headed to Copa America duty with Brenden Aaronson and co not fully fit and has paid the price by being ruled out until October or potentially further.

Leeds proven to have better side of Tyler Adams transfer agreement

His initial injury setback in September 2023 had Leeds fans thinking they were laughing all the way to the bank with this high-profile sale.

Now, with more and more surgery for the midfielder and barely any appearances to show for it in Bournemouth colours, it’s looking like a deal that far better served Leeds than it did Bournemouth and Andoni Iraola.

Add to that the fact that his replacement was Ethan Ampadu, a star man in Farke’s promotion push and comfortably Premier League quality, you have a transfer deal that couldn’t have gone better for Leeds.

It would have been hard to foresee the sheer magnitude of the American’s fitness issues on the South Coast, but Chelsea turned their back on a deal due to the results of his medical for good reason, it seems.

The 49ers will not be bothered by these developments after the manner of his exit, and the fans might not be sympathetic, as much as injury nightmares like this are grim to see.
