According to journalist Ciro Venerato, Napoli have been preparing for goalkeeper Alex Meret’s possible departure as Tottenham Hotspur consider a deal.
Tottenham’s current focus is on chairman Daniel Levy and his search for a new manager, with former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, Burnley’s Vincent Kompany, and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot all in the running.
Despite the current turmoil at Spurs, which has seen Fabio Paratici depart recently, there have been rumors of transfer targets being identified ahead of the summer.
Spurs are apparently interested in a number of Premier League players, including Leicester City’s James Maddison and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.
Signing a long-term replacement for club veteran Hugo Lloris is also reported to be a top priority, leading to ties with Brentford’s David Raya and Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.
Meret, who has been a regular under Luciano Spalletti during Napoli’s title run, is a target for Tottenham, according to reporter Venerato (via Area Napoli and Sport Witness).
The journalist believes Napoli have been looking at other shot-stoppers in preparation for his probable departure, as Tottenham consider a bid for the 26-year-old.
