Wrexham are closing in on their seventh signing of the 2024 summer transfer window.
The Red Dragons are set to make the step up to League One for the first time in their history in the coming season.
In preparation for this new challenge, owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have backed the club heavily in the transfer market.
Phil Parkinson has, so far, been allowed to sign six senior players for his first-team squad.
The permanent signing of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo from Arsenal headlines Wrexham’s transfer business this window.
Wrexham also hijacked Peterborough United’s move for Lewis Brunt, in a major coup for the club.
George Dobson, Callum Burton, Dan Scarr, and Sebastian Revan have made the move to the Racecourse Ground as well.
Said players should all boost Wrexham’s chances of survival in the upcoming 2024/25 League One season.
Wrexham now front-runners for Championship forward
Further reinforcements are still expected in Wales before the close of the transfer window on August 30th.
Wrexham are interested in Ryan Longman, who is wanted by Championship side Derby County as well.
Parkinson also launched an enquiry for Will Lankshear after Tottenham Hotspur made the striker available for loan.
More recently, the club have been linked with a move for another centre-forward. It was reported on Thursday that Wrexham are interested in Bailey Cadamarteri of Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls are said to prefer a loan move for Cadamarteri over a sale, with a host of League One clubs keen on the forward.
As well as Wrexham, all of Blackpool, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County, Dundee United, and Motherwell were named as interested parties.
Now though, journalist Darren Witcoop has taken to X/Twitter to provide an update on Cadamarteri’s situation and it is good news for Wrexham.
He wrote: “Wrexham have emerged as the front-runners to sign in-demand Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri on loan”
What will Bailey Cadamarteri bring to Wrexham
Wrexham’s star goalscorer Paul Mullin has undergone surgery this summer and may miss the opening stages of the new campaign.
As a result, it is easy to see why the club have been linked with so many strikers in recent weeks.
But is Cadamarteri the man to bring goals to Wrexham in the 2024/25 season?
The 19-year-old is a product of Sheffield Wednesday’s academy and has spent his entire senior career to date with the Yorkshire outfit.
He made his senior debut for the Owls in 2022/23 but only became a regular feature last term.
Cadamarteri was handed 25 appearances by Danny Rohl in 2023/24, including 23 in the Championship.
The young forward went on to score four and assist one in the league, as well as notching one goal in two FA Cup outings.
Cadamarteri has limited experience but after showing patches of quality in the second division, his goal tally should improve if he makes the step down to League One.
