BREAKING NEWS: Glen Kamara strongly advice Leeds United, player is ready and Jaidon Anthony agrees after Saturday outing

Leeds United produced a surprisingly convincing win over La Liga side Valencia on Saturday with a 2-1 victory that could have been a whole lot more, as Daniel Farke’s side impressed.

Leeds finished their pre-season campaign with a victory over their La Liga rivals, who finished in the top half in the top tier of Spain last term. It comes after wins over Harrogate, Hannover 96 and then Schalke.

Mateo Joseph opened the scoring with some neat footwork and a calm finish, before Georginio Rutter scored a quite magical chip. Duo Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk came close with headers from corners.

Leeds’ impressive display infuriated Valencia and lead to Rafa Mir being sent off, quite the feat in a pre-season friendly. Young midfielder Martin Tejon scored late on despite Leeds’ dominance against 10 men.

Joseph enjoys brilliant pre-season, looks set to start for Leeds

Towards the end of last season, Spain U21 striker Joseph was impressing off the bench for Leeds. His brace against Chelsea in the FA Cup, and a goal against Watford in the League saw him catch the eye.

But his ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play is something that could really benefit Leeds next season. During pre-season, he has scored four goals for Farke’s side, the latest coming on Saturday.

Farke said after the match that his starting XI against Valencia would be similar to the one that starts at Elland Road next Saturday against Portsmouth. It would see Joseph start, and he posted on Instagram.

Glen Kamara and Jaidon Anthony react as Joseph shines again

There are arguments to be made in most areas of the squad, that strengthening this summer is required. Certainly, Leeds want to sign another full-back, a midfielder and a replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

Perhaps, even two wingers are required. Another centre-back perhaps, though the form of teen James Debayo has caught Farke’s eye. But up top, Leeds are incredibly well-stocked going into the 24-25 term.

Joel Piroe has scored two goals in pre-season, Patrick Bamford came off the bench on Saturday and Joe Gelhardt has worked hard. But it feels like it’s Joseph’s time, and both Kamara and Anthony agree.

They commented on his Instagram, both clearly excited to see how Joseph gets on this season. Junior Firpo also posted some words of encouragement for the Leeds striker, with a week before the opener.
