Newcastle United are seeking for a center-back this summer and appear to be re-pursuing Roger Ibanez.
Ibanez was a target for Newcastle at the start of the season, but the Magpies instead signed Sven Botman.
The Dutchman has been a sensation since his £35 million arrival to St James’ Park, and Newcastle appear to be looking for a long-term partner for him. And they might have discovered him while he was playing for Roma.
Newcastle are one of three clubs interested in signing Ibanez this summer, according to Italian outlet Giallorossi.net. According to the report, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the 24-year-old defender.
Scouts from all three teams are said to have been to Rome to observe Ibanez play against Inter Milan. They were there to see the Brazilian make a blunder that allowed Romelu Lukaku to score Inter’s second goal in a 2-0 victory.
