Liverpool have 17.5% sell-on clause for Carvalho

According to the Athletic, Liverpool will retain a 17.5% sell-on clause for Carvalho on top of the £27m Brentford are already paying for the Portuguese youth international this summer.

With the west London side having an outstanding record of developing young players, there’s a real chance that Brentford could see Carvalho for a major fee in the years to come if the forward can hit the ground running in the English capital.

Indeed, Liverpool have already struck out in offloading Carvalho for as much as £27m, given that the 21-year-old prospect only managed 21 professional appearances for the Anfield side in his two years on Merseyside.

And with a clause now in place where Liverpool could earn as much as 20% from Carvalho leaving Brentford, there’s potential for the Reds to recoup a major fee in the years to come if the youngster can develop.

Liverpool have landed a golden goose in Carvalho

Liverpool are often regarded as one of the best negotiators in English football when it comes to offloading players, and the sale of Carvalho to Brentford might be the Anfield side’s best work in recent years.

Not only are they recouping almost £30m for the former Fulham man, but they have guaranteed a future fee if Carvalho develops and leaves Brentford in the next few years for a big transfer.

At 21, Carvalho is young enough where he can transform into an incredible player with the right development plan at Brentford, and Liverpool will hope the forward can become as good as many though the winger would be during his breakout year at Fulham.
