£7m star scores just two minutes into 3-0 win on Saturday, with Leeds locked in talks to sign him

Last Friday, it emerged that Leeds United were locked in talks to sign a striker and just two minutes into his side’s 3-0 win on Saturday, he was on the score sheet.

The Whites are expected to be in the market for new additions over the course of the next 11 days before the window slams shut on August 30. Daniel Farke says he wants four new signings before the deadline.

One position though that is unlikely to see the club bring in new additions is up top. Leeds look like they have enough numbers in that role in Mateo Joseph, Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and then Joe Gelhardt.

But that has not stopped Leeds opening talks to sign Swedish talent Jusef Erabi, who is said to be rated at £7m. The Whites are said to be locked in negotiations over a move for the Hammarby centre-forward.

Talk about making a statement. Sweden U21 star Erabi has been in excellent form for Hammaby this term, with the Swedish season at the midway stage and after Leeds links on Friday, he started against Varnamo.

It took the forward just two minutes to get his eighth goal of the season and open the scoring as his side went on to win 3-0. A brilliant cross from Bazoumana Toure was headed in by Erabi from close range.

While a simple goal and largely down to the excellent of the delivery, it was perfect positioning from Erabi and showing a striker’s instinct to keep his head over the ball, 15 seconds into the highlights video below.

Is spending £7m on Erabi sensible at this stage in the window?

There is no doubt that Erabi is a talent. A player scoring in the top flight of Swedish football at such a young age, a player with Sweden U21 caps and one that certainly has a future in Europe’s top leagues.

But Leeds have left things late and have plenty of work to do in the next week and a half. Focus must be placed on signing replacements for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, a midfielder, a full-back.

Loads to do before the deadline on August 30 and with every penny trying to be saved, Leeds need to look at signings that are needed before pursuing a move for Erabi even if he is a very exciting prospect.
