BREAKING NEWS: Luton Town want £15m for star man amid growing Premier League interest

Luton Town will demand £15m for Alfie Doughty as Premier League interest starts to grow, according to reporter Alan Nixon.

Luton Town will be hoping for a fruitful end to their summer transfer window.

The hope will be that some more fresh faces can come through the doors at Kenilworth Road while interest in key players is fended off. Among the standout men is Alfie Doughty, who made a good impression in the Premier League last season.

The 24-year-old proved himself as a real attacking threat on the left-hand side and will be a key outlet for the Hatters again this season if they’re to find success. However, interest in the wide man is starting to emerge.

Writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon states that Doughty could be offered a Premier League return with interest in the Luton Town man growing. The club have made their stance clear though with a big price tag set.

The Hatters will demand £15m for Doughty over the final days of the summer transfer window as they look to see off Premier League admirers and keep the left-sided star onboard beyond the end of the month.

The window slams shut at 11pm on August 30th.

Holding onto players

Given the injury problems Luton Town have started the season with, it seems unlikely that they’ll be willing to lose anyone, let alone someone as important as Doughty.

However, despite his key role in the team, it seems everyone at Kenilworth Road has a price. There would be positives to take from a big £15m cash influx from a sale of the former Charlton Athletic man, but there isn’t much time to reinvest at this stage in the window.

Finding someone who can replicate the attacking threat Doughty possesses on the left won’t be easy. It’s something you need more than around a week-and-a-half to do.

Whether anyone firms up their interest in the Luton Town star, it remains to be seen. If he’s to be prised away from the Championship club though, no one will be doing so on the cheap.

A tough start

It’s not been the ideal start to the season for the Hatters with a point take from two games.

The heavy 4-1 loss to Burnley in their opening game got things started on bad footing and they were unable to pick up a first win against Portsmouth at the weekend, drawing 0-0. The lineup was a stronger one against Pompey but the bench was still fairly limited.

They also weren’t helped by the early sending off of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, whose red card meant Carlton Morris had to make way for substitute shot-stopper James Shea.

Adding the loss of Doughty to this would only further dampen the mood at Luton Town, so time will tell if the interest develops into anything more concrete.
