Leeds United have turned their attentions towards a new attacking midfield target in their search to replace Georginio Rutter.
The number 10 position is arguably the most important area of the field for Leeds to strengthen in these final nine days of the window with Rutter having been the man to link everything together under Daniel Farke.
Joel Piroe was the man to replace him at West Brom but he really struggled to provide Leeds with anything in that role and certainly isn’t the long term answer.
Based on the links that have emerged in the last few days, it is clear what sort of profile Leeds are targeting in attack.
Manuel Benson, Calvin Stengs and Largie Ramazani are all wingers who can play in the number 10 position and are all on the radar of the Whites.
Leeds keen on Paris FC star Ilan Kebbal
With domestic options including Jack Clarke and Jonathan Rowe proving too expensive, Leeds have started to scour the European market.
As mentioned, Stengs and Ramazani are both players Leeds have enquired about and now according to Foot Mercato, there is a new name to add to the list
The report states both Leeds and Burnley are now eyeing a move for Paris FC attacking midfielder Ilan Kebbal .
It is said both sides have asked for information from the players’ representatives and could start talks with Paris in the next few days as they look to get a deal done.
The report states Kebbal was among the top five players in Ligue 2 last season and the stats certainly do not argue against that.
He scored six goals and provided 11 assists in the French Second Division, and also got off the mark on the opening day against Caen at the weekend.
Who is Leeds target Ilan Kebbal?
As mentioned, Kebbal is an attacking midfielder who is also capable of playing as a right-winger.
He fits the sort of profile Leeds are looking for to replace Rutter in that he is left-footed, and is someone who seems to have got better and better as his career has progressed.
After spells at Stade Reims and USL Dunkerque, Kebbal ended up joining Paris FC on loan in the summer of 2022 and did enough to earn himself a permanent deal.
Last season was undoubtedly the best of his career and in total for Paris, he has scored 13 goals and provided 18 assists in 71 matches.
