DONE DEAL: Leeds united set to sign international winger as medicals expected in the next 24hr

Leeds United are on the lookout for another attacking signing after Largie Ramazani and their hopes of signing one have been handed a real boost.

was reached with UD Almeria.

The 23-year-old’s arrival is likely to be the start of a very busy end to the window at Leeds, much like it was 12 months ago when five new signings arrived in the final week.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has confirmed Leeds are in the market for a new left-footed winger, though it is likely to be one who can also play as a number 10.

That is because Georginio Rutter’s departure has left a huge hole in the middle of the pitch that Joel Piroe proved he simply cannot replace in the 0-0 draw at West Brom.Roland Sallai of Hungary looks on during the UEFA EURO 2024 - Group A match between Scotland and Hungary at Arena Stuttgart on June 23, 2024 in Stu...

Leeds handed boost in Roland Sallai pursuit

Leeds have been linked with numerous players that fit this profile in the last few days, with Burnley’s Manuel Benson, Paris FC’s Ilan Kebbal and Freiburg’s Roland Sallai mentioned.

As per the aforementioned Tavolieri, Benson is very highly thought of at Leeds but is only viewed as a plan B right now.

That could mean one of Kebbal or Sallai is top of the list of priorities instead, and according to Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Leeds can be encouraged in their pursuit of the latter.

Plettenberg has written on his official Twitter account that Freiburg are keen on signing Hertha BSC winger Fabian Reese, but have to make an attacking sale before they can move.

This certainly fits with what has been reported on Leeds’ interest in the last 24 hours, with a move for Sallai now considered a much more ‘tangible possibility’ than earlier in the window.

Leeds were told a deal would be very unlikely following an initial enquiry, but developments at Freiburg could mean he is on his way out in the coming days.

Who is Leeds target Roland Sallai?

Sallai would be a significant coup for Leeds if they can get it done as he has plenty of pedigree both at international and club level.

At 27, Sallai has been capped on 52 occasions by Hungary, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists. Incidentally, he actually scored twice in a 4-0 win over England at Molineux a couple of years ago.

Sallai is described as both footed by Transfermarkt and can play both as a number 10 or winger, making him the perfect option to replace Rutter.

His time at Freiburg has seen him register 27 goals and 23 assists in 161 matches, including a prolific campaign in the Europa League last season.
