Leeds United sources share Roland Sallai transfer update after Freiburg exit developments

Leeds United sources have not ruled out a move for Freiburg forward Roland Sallai ahead of the 30 August deadline, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Wednesday (28 August) that the Whites’ interest in the Hungarian international has not ended as Daniel Farke looks to add to his attacking options at Elland Road.

Reports from Hungary suggest Leeds are the only bidders for Sallai this summer, with the attacker understood to be interested in making the move to the Championship after the Whites made an offer [Nemzeti Sport, 28 August].

The 27-year-old is believed to have held a meeting over his contract at Freiburg this week and will stay put if Leeds do not meet the German club’s demands for him.

Will Rolan Sallai exit Freiburg amid Leeds United transfer rumours?

Leeds United are certainly leaving their incoming transfer business later than most pundits or fans would have expected this summer and they still have a lot of work to do before the window slams shut on Friday.

Having balanced the books with a couple of big-money departures quickly after the end of the season, most fans would have expected several incomings to slowly arrive at Elland Road in the build-up to the new campaign.

Instead, Farke and the recruitment team above him at the club now appear to be rushing around in the final days of the window as they look to give the German a squad capable of winning promotion to the Premier League.

Sallahi would certainly be an exciting addition to the Whites’ squad and it does seem as though there is a deal there for the two clubs to strike, whether that be immediately or in the final hours of deadline day.

Hopefully, Leeds won’t leave any last-minute approach for his signature too late, otherwise, they may not have enough time to turn their attention to alternative targets.
