Mark Robins has dropped a significant transfer hint as Coventry City’s ‘no comment’ policy on the club’s summer business continues as the clock ticks down to Friday’s 11pm deadline.

Sky Blues owner Doug King’s edict continues to frustrate as fans eagerly await news on the prospect of more new signings and players going out the other way in the final few days of the current window.

It’s understood the club have been in the market for a central midfielder and right-back to complete their trading, but whether either materialise remains to be seen.

Asked if he’s expecting any activity in either direction ahead of Friday night’s transfer cut-off, Robins continued to toe the party line by saying: “I have got no answer for you, either way.”

Pressed, however, on whether he feels he’s got enough in his squad now or whether he still feels he needs more additions, he revealed tellingly: “As managers we never feel that we have got enough; there’s no way. But that’s all you’re getting.”

In terms of out-going players, the manager has already sent out Jack Burroughs to Scottish Premier side Kilmarnock where the 23-year-old has played two games to date, including a 2-0 defeat at Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League. Midfielder Ryan Howley is also expected to head out on loan today.

Asked if young striker Justin Obikwu is also in line for a temporary move to get regular first team football to aid his development, the manager confirmed that he is currently injured, revealing: “It’s a serious enough injury to keep him out but I don’t think he’ll be going out on loan.”
