Former £9m leeds United star set to return to club after contract news emerges

According to Corriere dello Sport, Diego Llorente is poised to return to Leeds United after Roma decided not to pay the £15.6 million loan fee.

The 29-year-old has had an impressive loan term at the Serie A club, but with Evan Ndicka likely to sign, there is renewed uncertainty about Llorente’s future.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Ndicka is likely to sign a five-year contract worth £9 million on Thursday, May 18. The 23-year-old Frenchman is expected to replace Llorente in the Italian city.

Llorente might play an important role for Leeds. The Spaniard has matured during his loan term with Roma, showing a big improvement over what he was dishing out previously.

There’s certainly a talented player somewhere, and granting him a new contract could have been a wise move. With Villarreal reportedly interested, Leeds may be able to secure their valuation. However, it is currently incredibly difficult to discuss ongoing transfer activity at Elland Road.

Although it seems unlikely, Leeds might be relegated this weekend if results do not go their way. When the board has determined which league they will play in next season, the transfer process can begin.

With the club’s value expected to fall in the Championship, Andrea Radrizzani may be tempted to try to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League in order to keep his present contract with the 49ers intact.
