Leeds United fans are all saying the same thing about Mateo Joseph after what he did for Spain U21s

Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph is quickly developing into one of the Championship’s top young talents and his goal for Spain U21s was more evidence of that.

Joseph was named as a substitute for Spain’s European Championship qualifier away at Scotland on Friday night and was brought onto the field of play midway through the second half with the game all square.

But Joseph took just three minutes to make his mark on the match as he netted the winning goal with an instinctive finish at the front post following an excellent piece of movement.

His winner for Spain was similar to the one he scored last weekend for Leeds, where again he was able to get in front of his marker at the near post before steering home.

Clearly getting off the mark for the season against Hull City was huge for his confidence and it now appears he could be set to go on a real run.

Leeds fans in agreement as Joseph shines again

Leeds fans have quickly fallen in love with the performances of Joseph this season and so it is nice to see him emulating that form for his country.

At the same time, however, they are also scarred at the young talent Leeds lost in the summer and so there is already a slight bit of apprehension about the interest he could receive in 12 months’ time.

One supporter wrote on Twitter that it is now vital Joseph is tied down to a ‘water tight contract’, even though it was only January he signed a new deal.

Another said: “This goal exemplifies Mateo Joseph’s meticulous movement/positioning inside the box. Exactly what a number nine should be doing. A breath of fresh air! Exciting times coincide with his development.”

One fan then added: “Mateo Joseph. Just knows where the goal is. #lufc.

What the Spanish media said about Leeds star Joseph

Clearly Joseph’s performances for both club and now country are not going unnoticed from those in Spain, with both the media and his teammates making comments.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, who also got on the scoresheet for Spain, hailed Joseph as ‘Leeds’ MVP’ during an interview earlier this week.

And now the Spanish media are beginning to catch up on what everyone else is seeing, with them clearly impressed with his goal.

They tweeted: “This kid has some stuff! [Top emoji] Mateo Joseph puts Spain back in front with this goal.”
