What does Kaizer Chiefs legend 16V think of Mofokeng?

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has heaped praise on two players from rival club Orlando Pirates.

This comes following Bafana Bafana’s dramatic come-from-behind victory over South Sudan on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Khumalo, Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana side are benefiting from Orlando Pirates’ competitive edge.

While the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and others are yet to play an official match since May, Pirates played five competitive matches in August alone.

According to Khumalo, Relebohile Mofokeng and match-winner Thalente Mbatha proved to be the difference on the day for Bafana.

Kaizer Chiefs legend heaps praise on Pirates duo

“We have players we can introduce like Mokwana and Mofokeng, that changed the complexion of the game,” the Kaizer Chiefs legend said on SABC1 as quoted by IDiski Times.

“That’s how the game is supposed to be, the bench is supposed to win games for you. I thought also Mofokeng on the left hand side, it paid dividends because Mofokeng is like an outright winger.

“But again credit to Mbatha because it seems like he’s our match winner. It raises the question, do we now have to rely on Orlando Pirates players because they played more competitive games?

In other related news, Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung has opened up on Itumeleng Khune’s future at the club.

The legendary Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has been a rare one-club player for Chiefs. Since being promoted to the Amakhosi first team in 2004, Khune has won 12 trophies, however he now appears to have been removed from the Amakhosi squad for the new season.

While the player himself is adamant he still has a few more years left in him as a player, Kaizer Chiefs are of the opinion it’s time for him to hang up his gloves.

And now, Jessica Motaung has opened up on Chiefs’ plan with the 37-year-old.

Khune set for new role at Kaizer Chiefs?

“Khune has been a big part of the Kaizer Chiefs family, someone that we value very seriously,” Jessica Motaung told Radio 2000 as quoted by IDiski Times.

“We are in process and discusses around the role that he can play. In fact one of the things that I was researching in the UK, the ambassadorial role of other players for their clubs after they’ve retired or moved.

“We are in discussions and I’m very excited we have meetings that are set up for us to really look at finalising and going through certain proposals with each.

“But we’re very excited to sit with him around the table and really carve out a really exciting way of taking him to the next level within the Kaizer Chiefs family. Talks are taking place and we’re making sure we’re keeping him within the fold.”
