Kaizer Chiefs mentor: Patience, squad rebuild and transfer news

Kaizer Chiefs mentor calls for patience, squad rebuild and talks transfer news.

Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi emphasises the need for patience in the transfer market as he undertakes the crucial task of rebuilding the squad. Since Nabi’s appointment, the club has welcomed seven new signings: Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Njabulo Blom, and Bradley Cross.

Despite strong links with Oswin Appollis over the past week, Nabi remains tight-lipped about any new transfers before the window closes on September 20. Nabi stated, “For myself, for that, I don’t want to accept propositions for new players, I need to take my time because it’s a big responsibility.” He praised the new signings, saying, “Congratulations to my committee for the honour of these possibilities. You saw the result, I think it’s very good new players.”

Nabi’s heartfelt appeal for time

Following an exhilarating 2-1 comeback victory against Marumo Gallants, Nasreddine Nabi made an emotional plea for patience. The win, secured at Toyota Stadium with goals from Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi, showcased the team’s resilience and Nabi’s potential impact. Amid the celebrations, Nabi urged, “Please give me time,” highlighting his commitment to transforming the team into a formidable force.

Glimpse into his transformative impact

Nabi’s request for patience echoes his successful tenure at Young Africans SC (Yanga), where he revitalised the club during a period of significant trophy drought. When Nabi took charge on April 21, 2021, Yanga was struggling, having not won a title in four years while rivals Simba SC dominated Tanzanian football.

Amidst a financial crisis and the departure of key financier Yusuf Manji, Nabi’s arrival marked a pivotal change. He overhauled the squad by releasing underperforming players and integrating new talent, including the impactful Fiston Mayele. Under his leadership, Yanga SC embarked on a record-breaking 49-game unbeaten streak, won the NBC Premier League title in the 2021/2022 season, and captured their 29th title the following season. Nabi also guided Yanga to the CAF Confederation Cup final, demonstrating his exceptional managerial prowess.
