Kaizer Chiefs set to miss out on R40 million?

Kaizer Chiefs have been hard at work during the current transfer window, with both incomings and outgoings being the focus.

Chiefs have signed seven players thus far, while they have been able to let go of five as it stands.

Chiefs have been busy with incomings and outgoings

When it comes to the new additions, they boast Bongani SamRushwin DortleyFiacre NtwariGaston Sirino and Ignacio Miguel. They then announced the exciting duo of former trialist Bradley Cross and former player and Chiefs academy product Njabulo Blom on the same day. It is believed that the club are still on the market for at least two players, a striker and a winger.

In terms of outgoings Keagan Dolly, Njabulo NgcoboSiyethemba SithebeSifiso Hlanti and Jasond Gonzalez have left. Players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane are also thought to be at a crossroads at Chiefs. One other player that was mentioned in the same breath earlier last season is defender Zitha Kwinika.

Besides the unwanted players, it is believed that some assets have been targeted too and could be sold. One of those being forward Ashley du Preez! According to Soccer-Laduma, Portuguese topflight side Vitoria SC have have now tabled an offer. It is believed Chiefs is willing to open negotiations soon. But there is just one problem.

According to the same publication, although Chiefs are willing to sell du Preez, they can’t do so yet. This is because they’re also trying to sign a striker themselves first.

Set to miss out on R40 million from du Preez?

“There was a strong desire to see him move to Europe, but the lack of a replacement has complicated matters. An offer of R40 million was reportedly on the table, which could have facilitated the signing of several quality strikers. However, without a guarantee of securing those targets, the move was halted. This has been a significant stumbling block. The interest was genuine, and it’s unfortunate that the deal didn’t materialize for both the club (Chiefs) and Du Preez. Nevertheless, there is still hope for a potential move in January,” said a source to the same publication.

That means Chiefs could potentially miss out on top targets too, having lost out on a potential R40 million purse. Amakhosi fans are you happy that du Preez is staying? Or would you prefer that he leaves and get the money instead? Feel free to leave your thoughts and views in the comments below.
