Andrea Radrizzani is part of a syndicate looking to buy Sampdoria, a demoted Serie A club.
Andrea Radrizzani, the owner of Leeds United, has revealed more about his participation in the potential takeover of Italian club Sampdoria.
Radrizzani is a partner in Gestio Capital, an asset management firm that made a “binding offer” to take over the financially troubled club last week.
He was photographed arriving at the club’s training facility on Monday morning. The club was relegated from Serie A this season and also has a variety of off-field issues, including accusations that they are €200 million in debt and owe €13.5 million in unpaid wages, which might result in a points deduction if the issue is not handled.

Radrizzani revealed his interest in the club to Secolo XIX via onefootball.
“We came to Genoa above all to get to know the Board, to introduce ourselves as professionals, and to tell our background in sport and in the media,” he explained.
“I’d like to explain our project, or more specifically, our industrial plan for Sampdoria.” We have lofty goals. This club’s history, culture, and brand are all well-known to me. And of the passion and strength of its fans, who are extremely valuable.”
Radrizzani paid £45 million to buy Leeds from Massimo Cellino in 2017, and financial figures released by Eleonora Sport Limited (ESL), the firm set up by Cellino to take control of Leeds in 2014, revealed in 2018 that Radrizzani paid £20 million and £25 million in separate instalments.
Radrizzani’s involvement in the prospective Sampdoria transfer comes as Leeds are on the verge of relegation and there is off-field concern surrounding the club’s ownership.
Radrizzani has been the club’s principal shareholder since 2017, while 49ers Enterprises has increased their minority investment to 44% since initially becoming engaged in 2018.
The San Francisco 49ers’ investment arm has the option to execute a full takeover by January 2024. In the event of relegation, a 49ers takeover is still regarded to be conceivable, but fans will demand clarity in the following days rather than weeks.
