Clubs are making their retained lists public, allowing recruitment teams to scout players that may be available on a free transfer. These 27 players were all released by Championship clubs and may be of interest to second-tier clubs.
Huddersfield Town, Hull City, Middlesbrough, and Rotherham United will all compete in the 2022/23 Championship season. Leeds United, who are in danger of relegation from the Premier League, might join them. They will very certainly be joined by either Sheffield Wednesday or Barnsley, who will compete for promotion from League One in the third-tier play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
