Kaizer Chiefs refused to pay ‘crazy’ amount for Velebayi – Agent

Asanele Velebayi‘s agent Lance Davids has explained why his player’s move to Kaizer Chiefs was unsuccessful.

The 21-year-old Cape Town Spurs attacker was linked with a move to Amakhosi only to have the Soweto giants’ offer turned down. It was believed that the offer for the star was little and Spurs wanted more money for their star player.

Davids, who played for Bafana Bafana, explained why Velebayi was unable to join Kaizer Chiefs.

“There was a lot of back and forth going, of course Chiefs put in an offer, but the value was too low for Cape Town Spurs,” he told Metro FM.

“I will be honest, the offer thatSpurs wanted was R12 million and they came down to R10 million.”

Agent reveals Kaizer Chiefs offered R5 million for Velebayi

“Chiefs offered R5 million plus two players for the Velebayi deal and of course the valuation was very fair with add-ons, and they also didn’t accept that. They thought the valuation was low, and then they stopped just there. “

Davids said that Spurs valued their captain equally to Polokwane City star Oswin Appollis.

“I think in my opinion, of course, I thought the valuation of Cape Town Spurs looking at Velebayi, compared to Oswin Appollis, it’s a no-brainer. You can’t compare Appollis to Velebayi at this point, looking at what Oswin achieved last year,” he said.

“So I think the valuation of Velebayi was crazy. I think Kaizer Chiefs, to be honest, was very fair on their proposal. In my opinion, if Chiefs were ready to go on, they could have still added some more add-ons. Of course, they did not because they thought they were also fair in their proposal, and the deal fell through.

“The fans or people from outside must always know us as agents. We can try as much as we can but at the end of the day is the selling and buying club. If the two don’t come to an agreement, it just won’t happen,” he concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs could still make an offer for Velebayi next season. The club has since signed seven new players this season.
