UEFA make huge Champions League decision as Arsenal and Tottenham handed major final hope

There will be a change of host stadium for the 2027 Champions League final after UEFA made a decision about the venue.

Arsenal are currently competing in the new revamped format of Europe’s elite cup competition and were held to a goalless draw with Atalanta in their first league phase match last week.

It has been reported that the Italian authorities could not guarantee to UEFA that the refurbishment would be completed in time for the 2027 final.

As a result, UEFA have now decided to remove the San Siro from hosting the prestigious fixture and have now opened the bidding for a new host. UEFA state that an announcement on a new host venue will be made by June next year.

It remains to be seen which clubs will submit bids to have their stadiums host the 2027 Champions League final. Both Arsenal and Tottenham each have stadiums that have 60,000-plus capacities and could be ideal candidates should bids be made to UEFA.
