Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach dilemma: What’s the hold up?

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach dilemma is explained, according to Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs find themselves in a challenging situation as they attempt to fill the vacant assistant coach position. Sources close to the club reveal that the complications stem from the ongoing contractual issues surrounding Fernando Da Cruz, who is still believed to be under contract with the Chiefs due to Moroccan Football Federation matters.

Contractual complications stall appointment

Insiders indicate that the Glamour Boys cannot proceed with hiring a new assistant coach until they resolve the issues related to Da Cruz’s contract. “The Moroccan FA was supposed to pay a settlement agreement for Da Cruz, which they haven’t done yet, and that’s what is delaying everything at the moment,” one source disclosed.

Chiefs had already paid Da Cruz his signing-on fee when he joined during the pre-season camp in Turkey, further complicating matters. The Moroccan football authority still needs to settle the outstanding amount to clear the way for Chiefs to move forward.

“The initial proposed settlement pay-out for coach Da Cruz’s move to the Morocco FA was 12 months, but after negotiations, Chiefs reduced it to three months, which up to now has not been paid,” said an insider close to the situation. This delay keeps Da Cruz technically employed by the Chiefs, preventing the club from rushing into appointing a new assistant.

“Da Cruz could come back to Chiefs if the Moroccan FA can’t pay what Chiefs are looking for,” the source added. This possibility further complicates the timeline for a new appointment.

Interest in Cedric Kaze: Potential solution

Despite the ongoing issues, Chiefs have expressed interest in Cedric Kaze as a potential assistant coach. However, until the Da Cruz situation is resolved, any engagement with Kaze remains on hold. “That’s true, they were looking at bringing in Cedric Kaze. But they have put that on hold because they have to solve the Da Cruz issue first,” confirmed a second insider.

Coach Nabi has advocated for discussions with Kaze, noting that he has a better familiarity with him. However, the decision ultimately lies in the hands of the club’s management. Which is constrained by the contractual obligations related to Da Cruz.

Chiefs face a pivotal moment as they navigate these complexities. The resolution of Da Cruz’s contractual obligations is critical for the club to move forward. And ultimately secure a new assistant coach soon. Until then, the uncertainty will linger, leaving fans eager for updates on the club’s next steps.
