Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher predict winner of Ipswich v Aston Villa match

Aston Villa will look to make it six wins in a row in all competitions when they head to Ipswich Town in the Premier League this Sunday.

Unai Emery’s Villans have won all but one of the games they’ve contested this season, only losing to title challengers Arsenal.

Villa will be up against Ipswich, who have steadied the ship after being handed two of the worst possible fixtures at the start of the season.

The Blues had Liverpool and Manchester City as their first two opponents, but then drew their next three league fixtures.

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have now predicted who they think will win between Ipswich and Villa and Portman Road.

Considering one team is in the top-four picture and the other has just been promoted, both Keane and Carragher think Villa will take all three points at Ipswich.

Keane said on the Stick to Football podcast: “I am going Villa all day all day here”. Meanwhile, Carragher predicted a 3-0 away win, adding: “Nobody is beating (Emiliano) Martinez.”

Ipswich v Villa form

Ipswich are currently without a win this season and sit 17th in the table, but they will take confidence from their draws against Fulham, Brighton and Southampton.

The Tractor Boys lost to Liverpool and Man City, which is hardly something to be ashamed of, though they did also lose to AFC Wimbledon on penalties in the League Cup.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are third in the Premier League table, having lost just once of their five games – against Arsenal – and beating West Ham, Leicester, Everton and Wolves.

The Villans also won their Europa League opener against Young Boys and got past Wycombe Wanderers in the third round of the League Cup.

Ipswich v Villa head-to-head

Ipswich and Villa have faced off 61 times in their history, the first game coming on 7 January 1939, an FA Cup tie that resulted in a 2-2 draw.

The Blues have won 20 times, while the Villans have triumphed on 26 occasions, and 15 games have been drawn.

Ipswich and Villa last locked horns in the Championship on 26 January 2019, a game won 2-1 by the claret-and-blue outfit.
