According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur ‘may jump at the chance’ to sign Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) shot-stopper Keylor Navas, who is presently on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Spurs are expected to sign the Costa Rica international, who is poised to leave the Parisians next summer. The experienced goalie is interested in playing in the Premier League.
While the 36-year-old has been brilliant for the Tricky Trees this season, it appears doubtful that he will be signed. The salary of the former Real Madrid player, as well as the prospective arrival of Dean Henderson, make things difficult for the West Bridgford team.
PSG signed Navas in the summer of 2019. At first, the Costa Rican was the top player on the Parc des Princes side. However, in recent years, the experienced goalie has dropped down the pecking order.
Gianluigi Donnarumma joined the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. In the current season, the Italy international has been Christophe Galtier’s first choice.
Navas arrived in Forest in January and has performed admirably since then. The 36-year-old has made some outstanding saves to keep the Tricky Trees from being relegated from the Premier League.
Hugo Lloris and Fraser Forster are the only two established shot-stoppers in Tottenham’s squad. However, they are both well past their physical peak. For some time now, the French national has been inconsistent in goal for Spurs.
As a result, we clearly need to strengthen our goalkeeping ranks in the coming months. But it remains to be seen whether Navas will be pursued by the North London club.
