Following his exit from TS Galaxy, journeyman Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic has agreed to join SuperSport United. He’s seen as a natural replacement for the evergreen Bradley Grobler, who’s out with a long-term injury.

“SuperSport really wanted an experienced striker, and Samir was available, so they saw it fit to improve their offer as Hunt needs him,” a source told FARPost.

“With Grobler out, they desperately wanted a striker to replace him and Samir was that player as he has the experience in the PSL.

“Samir will sign for SuperSport in the next few days. The one-year contract, which has an option to extend by a further year, will expire in 2026.

“SuperSport is also working on registering Samir as a local as he now qualifies to be a naturalised South African due to the fact that he has been in the country for five years. It looks like SuperSport wants to make more room for foreign spots ahead of the January transfer window,” the source concluded.

Nurkovic knows the league inside out

Samir Nurkovic is a veteran of the Betway Premiership after arriving at Chiefs in 2019. He spent three years with the Soweto Giants. His best campaign there was undoubtedly 2019-2020 when he plundered 13 goals and six assists from 26 league appearances. A stunning return.

Royal AM still owed Nurkovic a lot of money

Royal AM have yet to settle their R12 million debt to former striker Samir Nurkovic. According to SABC Sport, the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit was ordered to pay the former Kaizer Chiefs striker a two-year contract in full by FIFA to him and his lawyers, with interest accrued included.

Nurkovic moved to Royal AM on a free transfer in 2022. However, the club terminated his contract after just three months. According to reports, the experienced Serbian wasn’t paid a cent during his time there. This debt bow gets added to a massive tax bill from SARS.
