Good News for Tottenham as manager rejects other offers to visit Levy for final discussion

Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s post yet again, and the Brighton and Hove Albion manager has reportedly rejected Serie A champions Napoli.

Spurs have gotten themselves into an even larger mess than they were in before. Almost two months after firing Antonio Conte, it appeared that they had found a suitable replacement in Arne Slot. However, the Dutchman declined and is now staying with Feyenoord.

Tottenham’s search for a new manager continues, and De Zerbi has been mentioned once more. And, according to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via Sportwitness), he has rejected down a lucrative job offer from Napoli.

After it was established yesterday that Arne Slot would not be the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, speculation regarding the next leading candidate began.

Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett addressed the subject, claiming that De Zerbi will be of interest to Tottenham again as their hunt for a new manager continues.

The Italian, dubbed the ‘world’s best coach’ by Yasin Ayari, has done an outstanding job at Brighton. He took over from Graham Potter earlier in the season and has completely transformed how the Seagulls play.

Brighton are currently one of the top teams in the country, and De Zerbi is the reason behind this. That’s why he’s suddenly desired, and Napoli reportedly tried to sign him to replace Luciano Spalletti.

However, according to the article, De Zerbi ‘communicated’ to Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis that he is ‘not interested’ in the post at the moment.

De Zerbi’s rejection of Napoli is excellent news for Tottenham since it means there will be less competition for his signature, but he is unlikely to accept Spurs as well.

Brighton have just qualified for the Europa League, something Spurs have not done this season.

So, from the outside, why would De Zerbi quit his team and join Spurs, who are currently in a state of disarray and are also a level below Brighton?

We don’t think De Zerbi will leave the Amex for Tottenham this summer, but if Daniel Levy can persuade him, maybe, just maybe, a few Spurs fans may forgive him.
