Ampadu is set to miss the rest of the year, with reports indicating he could return in early 2025. Leeds will have to manage without their captain for the foreseeable future, and Ao Tanaka stepped in to fill the void, making his first start for the club against Norwich City on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, during the 1-1 draw against Norwich, Gruev had to leave the match early because of a knee injury. There’s no timeline for his return, which is a setback for the team as they were likely counting on a Gruev-Tanaka partnership to help compensate for Ampadu’s absence.
With injuries piling up, Leeds’ squad depth is becoming a concern. It doesn’t seem that the Whites will sign a free agent, so their best option now is to hold tight and wait for the January transfer window.

The report suggests a possible comeback to his boyhood club, Sunderland, who are currently at the top of the Championship table following Illan Meslier’s error on Friday night. However, Leeds also need a midfielder, and Henderson could be the right fit for them.
