Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi was not pleased despite his team winning the Cufa Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Amakhosi edged out Marumo Gallants 4-3 on penalties to claim the trophy after the game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes. Bruce Bvuma made two crucial saves to give Nabi his first trophy since he joined the club in July.

After the match, Nabi mentioned two key factors holding Kaizer Chiefs back this season. He said the lack of a winning mentality and poor finishing was what needs to improve

“It was a very intense game; it was an excellent thing [winning the Cufa Cup], but we created many chances,” Nabi said.

“This is a big, big problem [missing scoring opportunities]. I want a winning mentality. There are no friendly games. In friendly games, you need a positive attitude and a winning attitude. In exercises and training, I want to win. If I lose, it’s a problem. I don’t sleep. I want this mentality.”

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi unhappy despite Cufa Cup win

The Tunisian coach felt that his side was not sharp against Gallants on Sunday.

“We lose momentum in the game; we gave the other team the chance to gain control; this is unacceptable,” he said.

“We play cup against SuperSport. This is a very bad reputation. Maybe the SuperSport coach was watching, and if we reach penalties again, I need to change takers.”

Nabi will play in his official cup competition when Kaizer Chiefs play SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup this weekend.
