The Kaizer Chiefs supporter said, ’Yusuf Maart needs to go!, after the CUFA Cup.

Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart finds himself in hot water with supporters again who believe he hasn’t lived up to expectations. The 29-year-old, who was once a marquee signing for the club, faces increasing scrutiny following a series of disappointing performances.

“No one can save Maart. Everyone must apologise to Mazinyo,” tweeted fan JohnDoe_ZAR, capturing the frustration of many.

Another supporter, M_o_n_d_z, added, “I’ve seen enough. Yusuf Maart needs to go!” These sentiments echo throughout social media as fans express their discontent.

Promising start derailed by poor performances

Chiefs began the season with high hopes following the appointment of new head coach Nasreddine Nabi. After a promising start with two consecutive wins, they stumbled to a 2-1 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns before the FIFA international break. The situation worsened during the CUFA Cup match against Marumo Gallants, where Chiefs secured victory through penalties, but Maart’s performance fell flat.

Supporters continue to voice their concerns. An Orlando Pirates fan named sefothakarabel tweeted, “@orlandopirates Thank you to our management for releasing Maart. There is nothing there.”

From potential to disappointment

Maart’s journey in football began with the Orlando Pirates development team, but he struggled to break into the first team. A loan to Cape Umoya in the National First Division allowed him to shine, leading to a move to Sekhukhune United, where he showcased his true talent. His performances there made him a sought-after player, ultimately landing him a spot at Kaizer Chiefs for R6 million in July 2022.

Despite the promise he once showed, Maart has only managed four goals and five assists in 65 games across all competitions for Chiefs. His lack of impact has not gone unnoticed, with fans voicing their frustration about the team’s depth. One fan, @theboldman7, claimed, “Maart is the worst midfielder I’ve seen play for Kaizer Chiefs ever. Shocking performance!”

The future of Yusuf Maart at Kaizer Chiefs

As Maart’s contract nears its end at the conclusion of the season, questions loom over his future at the club. Coach Nabi has shown faith in him, making him captain and relying on his experience. However, many fans are left wondering if he will be a part of Chiefs’ plans moving forward. Another user, @sello_choppa, pointedly stated, “Maart has to define himself.”

With growing dissatisfaction from the fanbase and a contract renewal on the horizon, will Yusuf Maart rise to the occasion, or is it time for a change at Kaizer Chiefs? Only time will tell.
