Kaizer Chiefs will take on SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16, and two players are seemingly not ready for Amakhosi.

KAIZER CHIEFS TO MAKE TWO CHANGES

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday night’s game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, coach Nasreddine Nabi revealed that Edson Castillo arrived late from international duty with Venezuela, while Rushwin Dortely returned from Bafana Bafana injured.

“A player like Castillo only arrived at 3pm (on Thursday). We understand Dortley has an injury. These are all issues we need to work around to see how we can include them in the team and prepare for the (SuperSport) game,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach said at the press conference.

GASTON SIRINO

Additionally, coach Nabi also revealed that Sirino will face a late fitness test.

“Maybe he will not be fully recovered but we are trying to count on him (Sirino),” said Nabi.

“Maybe not for the whole 90 minutes but we will see how long,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician concluded.

KAIZER CHIEFS ANNOUNCE CEDRIC KAZE

In the meantime, the Glamour Boys have announced a new assistant coach to replace Fernando Da Cruz, who departed.

“Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Cedric Kaze as the new assistant coach. This strategic addition to coach Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team aims to bolster the Club’s performance and aspirations for the season,” the club said.

“Burundi-born Kaze brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the set-up, having previously worked alongside Nabi at Young Africans, where they achieved significant success together, winning six trophies in two seasons. His tactical expertise and experience in various coaching roles makes him a perfect fit to complement Nabi’s vision for the team.

“The 45-year-old has an impressive CV, which includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, CAF A licence, as well as a German Football Federation A licence. He was named coach of the year for East and Central Africa in 2012.

“Kaze worked with the national teams in Burundi, where he started as an assistant coach for the U17 team in 2007, and became an assistant coach to the senior team, then coach for the U20s and U23s until he left for Canada in 2015.

“In Canada, he worked for a youth football training institution before he moved to the FC Barcelona Academy where he worked for two and half years.

“He has worked as a head coach in Burundian, Rwandan and Tanzanian domestic football, where he was also a Technical Director,” Kaizer Chiefs concluded.
