Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Edmore Chirambadare inspired Magesi FC to a 3-2 win over Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday.
The 32-year-old winger scored Magesi’s third goal from the spot.
Playing their first match since winning the MTN8 final, the Buccaneers looked sluggish and casual in the opening phases of the match. The visitors found the opening goal of the match through Delano Abrahams. Magesi continued to attack and were rewarded when Thabiso Sesane scored in his own net.
Just before the half-time break, Pirates conceded a penalty and ex-Chiefs winger Edmore Chirambadare scored from the rebound after Sipho Chaine made the initial save.
In the second half, it was all Pirates but the damage had been done. Tshegofatso Mabasa missed several chances and was eventually subbed off as Jose Riveiro looked for quick goals.
