Leeds United to sell two star forwards?

Leeds United have some top forwards at the club at the moment and they will be key to the club’s hopes of returning to the Premier League after coming agonisingly close to promotion last season.

In the end, Leeds were made to rue missed chances at Wembley as they lost to Southampton, who have struggled in the Premier League since promotion.

That day at Wembley, Leeds United failed to find a way of breaking down the Saints and in the end substitute Dan James looked the most dangerous player on the field. Leeds cannot afford to be in the same situation at the end of this season.

So far this season, Mateo Joseph and Willy Gnonto have impressed for Daniel Farke’s men but there are two players who are perhaps not providing value to Leeds’ attacking options.

Leeds United told to sell two forwards

The FootballFancast have identified that Patrick Bamford is Leeds United’s highest earner on a huge £70k per week which is double that of the players who are currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

Bamford has been linked with an exit from Elland Road in the coming weeks with sources even claiming that the striker “wants to leave” the club, leading to speculation that he could leave the club in January or even in the Summer as Leeds United truly feel as though they are headed in a new direction at the top of the field.

It was long thought that the natural replacement to Bamford would be young Joe Gelhardt but the FootballFancast has also suggested he should be sold believing that the young forward has not lived up to the hype. Equally, he is listed as a player like Bamford not producing the goods for the value that he is being paid.

Since scoring 20 goals in his breakout season, the goals have dried up and he has only been called upon twice this season prompting calls for the forward, once likened to Lionel Messi, to be sold.

This could leave Leeds with space to replace them perhaps with Ryan Kent who has been linked with a move to Elland Road again alongside another of Klopp’s kids which you can read about here.
