Breaking: Steve Cooper’s latest comments show one Leicester City change will be actioned, fans have cried out for it-Opinion

Steve Cooper has clearly learned from one previous Leicester City issue.

Leicester City gear up to face Nottingham Forest, where Steve Cooper will face off against his former club.

The Foxes will be hoping that they can build on their astonishing 3-2 victory against fellow promoted side Southampton, where they were able to come back from a two-goal deficit.

Many players shone for Cooper’s side last time out against the Saints, with Jamie Vardy particularly making a significant contribution from the penalty spot, whilst Facundo Buonanotte once again got on the scoresheet.

Abdul Fatawu also made a massive difference after coming off-the-bench, as he was able to provide an assist.

The recent comments made from Leicester City boss Cooper suggest that he is set to make a decision on the winger that fans have cried out for, and it is without a doubt overdue.

Steve Cooper praises ‘great’ Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu

Ghanaian international Fatawu was handed starts in the first three Premier League games of the 2024/25 campaign, however was unable to make a significant difference in the matches that the Foxes accumulated just one point.

Since the start of the season, Fatawu is yet to be handed another start for Cooper’s side, however his short cameo in the crucial victory against Southampton may have just won over the Foxes boss.

In his pre-match press conference, Cooper was full of praise for the winger, where he said: “He did do great at the weekend and it’s the best he’s shown in the Premier League so far.

“We know he can reach that level of performance. We’d seen signs of it and we definitely see it in training. He took his opportunity. He did change the game.

“It’s about understanding what he did well and why he did well and then repeating it. Young players have to take opportunities. He did that. It is a step up.

“He’s a big part of our culture here. He’s very popular with the group.”

Leicester City wide options will make significant difference this season

The Foxes had somewhat of a slow start to the campaign, however their recent form suggests that they are on the up, and performances have certainly been pointing in that direction.

A lot of this has to go down to the abilities shown by Buonanotte and the amount of times he has made a significant difference to the side, with the 1-0 win against Bournemouth being an obvious moment, in which he was able to score the decisive goal to lead Leicester City towards their first win of the campaign.

Both the Argentinian international and an in-form Fatawu will be a force to be reckoned with this season, and if both of their performances from last time out can be replicated against Nottingham Forest, then they could be in for a great night at the King Power Stadium.
